Smoothies with Natural Blender

It’s great to do a juice / smoothie detox (When I say great – I mean painful obviously) but life gets in the way, and you can’t do them as often as you want. So occasionally you just need a pick me up – lots of veg or fruit packed into your diet to make you feel normal again after a crazy week (or a hangover of course).

So it was lovely to get the ingredients for these delivered to my door the other day, by Natural Blender –  the first company to deliver smoothie ingredients direct to your door. They’re jumping on the ‘healthy eating / too lazy to do anything about it’ trend – people want to eat well but can’t be bothered with the hassle of making healthy snacks or juices. Natural Blender take the pain out of it by giving you the recipes and the ingredients. And they’re not just any old smoothies – they’re super food smoothies, with ingredients like Flax Seeds and Goji Berries it’s a world away from what you would probably even think about putting in your smoothies.

The recipes were really easy to follow, they weigh out all of the ingredients for you so each juice took around 5 minutes maximum to make. I loved the Mary Berry and Kale me Crazy the most as they were actually tasty, filling and made me feel amazing for next few days. The only one slight hiccup was that I felt like I had to make them all within the first 2 days (I got sent five different recipes to make) as ingredients started to go off. So my only advice would be to inform us which smoothies to make first so you don’t feel like you’ve missed out on one of the smoothies when ingredients go off.

MARY BLUEBERRY

INGREDIENTS

Plum

Half the Punnet of Blueberries

One Banana

Irish Oats

Moldavian Walnuts

Half the carton of Buco Coconut

Water

Handful of Ice

 

STEPS

 

  1. De-stone the plum by cutting through the flesh and around the stone (similar to cutting an avocado) and peel the banana
  2. Place these ingredients into the blender along with half the punnet of blueberries, oats and walnuts, adding half the carton of Buco organic coconut water and a handful of ice.
  3. Blend for 1-3 minutes, depending on the strength of your blender, until the ingredients are broken down

 

KALE MR CRAZY

 

INGREDIENTS

One bag of Kale

Red Apple

One Lime

Ginger

Organic Golden Flaxseeds

Organic Sunflower Seeds

Half the carton of Buco Coconut

Water

Handful of Ice

 

STEPS

 

  1. Cut the apple into chunks (core and all) and cut the lime in half, squeezing the juice into the blender
  2. Place these ingredients into a blender and add the bag of kale, ginger, flaxseeds and sunflower seeds, adding half the carton of coconut water and a handful of ice. Flaxseeds are also proven to protect the liver – so even better after a boozy weekend.
  3. Blend for 1-3 minutes, depending on the strength of your blender, until the ingredients are broken down
